Tilda Swinton Is Sleeping In A Box At MoMA This Year
As if starring in David Bowie music videos wasn’t already the coolest, Tilda Swinton has currently taken up residency sleeping at MoMA. It’s part of an unannounced, surprise performance piece called “The Maybe” that will be taking place on random days all month year (see updated details below). A MoMA source told us, “Museum staff doesn’t know she’s coming until the day of, but she’s here today. She’ll be there the whole day. All that’s in the box is cushions and a water jug.”
So, I’ve been here now for over 3 weeks!!! I can hardly believe how time has flown! It’s been such a wonderful three weeks, already filled with growth, lessons, challenges and so many wonderful things, like good food, sunsets, beaches, real life wild turtles, waterfalls, oh yeh and my brand new beautiful team of staff and leaders! Such a fabulous group of people!
I’ve also realised, for the first time in my life, how much of a networker I am! I seem to know everyone or know someone they know!!! It’s pretty incredible.
Being here for this amount of time has also been crucial in discovering what it’s like to live here and the needs that I could not have known prior to coming. And this not the part I enjoy the most, that’s for sure, but you’re all my friends and I know I have your prayers and love in all of this.
So, the first would be finances in general.
I still need about $410 for board to cover lecture phase of this DTS and then I’ll need about $3500 for outreach, which I need to get on to promptly.
I’ll be putting an album on this page of photos that are available for purchase, if interested please let me know. Furthermore, we’ll be taking about outreach locations soon and I will very soon be able to let you know more about where I’ll be going.
And then there is extra living costs. Things are expensive here, like food, phones, ladies products (sorry had to be said) toiletries in general, basic needs really.
I have discovered that toting everything around in my handbag, including my laptop and DSLR is too much of a weight for my back to bear on one side. I am in real need of a good and sturdy backpack, somewhat largish (not hiking backpack style) but big enough to replace a carryon bag because I certainly would not be able to take both at the end of this trip. I’ve seen a few like this around here and they are pretty pricey… but my faith is in God to see it come, as will do wonders for my poor back, if I can even out the weight, and my right shoulder in which I have a long standing injury.
I am also in need of a sturdier pair of flip flops or sandals, something with more support than what I have i.e. havianas… mostly because I sprained my foot and ankle two weeks ago and it gets really sore if I don’t wear supportive shoes.
That’s really it. With the provision of these things I know I will be able to be more focused on the task at hand. I love God for how He provided for me to get here! I know that He is my Jehovah Jireh! I look to Him for my provision. Please would you stand in prayer with me for these things, and if you feel at all to give towards any of them, please inbox me or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
I love it here. It certainly is a dream come true doing God’s work in Hawaii, although this Island is sometimes known as the ugly Island, because it mostly still Volcanic and not as white sands, grassy, fresh and tropical as say Honolulu. Kona is a holiday destination but it is nothing like you see Hawaii as in the movies, that again is Honolulu on another Island. And although I would love to spend a weekend there in a luxury spa and shopping. I love the work I get to do here, I love the opportunities that this adventure with God is giving me and the growth that I’m already experiencing. I am blessed to be here and only hope to be able to bless the people around me and my awesome Father in Heaven!
Please keep praying for unity for my team. We really have a sense of being family as a DTS and as staff in particular, so please keep praying for that. And of course please keep praying anything else that comes up in your heart to pray for! You can never be praying too much.
One major need for the school is still male Students!!! We just lost two, so we have about 3 or 4 male students out of approx 37 students! We need more!!!! Please pray that during this week we receive a plethora of applications from guys! We have until the 4th of April!
So, I made it to YWAM Kona. Our team has gathered and in 15 days our students arrive. We’re in the midst of preparing for the school, which means lots of meetings, discussing the functions and logistics of the school.
Kona is a beautiful place and the base does not fail to please. It’s huge, with a population of 1,100 people for this quarter, that’s ending, prior to ours beginning on April 4th. Our quarter won’t be as large but we are looking forward to all that God will be doing during this time.
We have a permanent view of the ocean, the sunset is always beautiful, a 24/7 prayer room, space, palm trees, cafe… I could go on and on. It’s a fabulous place to be called.
But the pressure is mounting. The school is getting closer and closer and very soon I will have the privilege to be used by God in the lives of the students. This is no mere task that God has set before me, but it’s the next step in growth and developing leadership.
I know that God is not only going to work through but He will also be working in me, He already is in fact.
I appreciate your love and support. Please contact me if you want to know more.
I am here! Finally! In Kona Hawaii! Not for a holiday but for another life changing experience, another opportunity to grow and be discipled and a wonderful opportunity to disciple and develop my leadership skills… A fantastic opportunity to put into practice all that I’ve learnt. A wonderful chance to serve and love God and people in the ways I’m gifted. This is my dream coming true merging things I love dearly, like creativity and discipleship! This is the opportunity of a lifetime, to be myself and love it :)
